Bradford & Bingley’s survival bid is in their own hands.

With four of the final six games at Wagon Lane, the second-bottom Bees control their own destiny in the National League Two North relegation scrap.

Two of those are against the sides directly above them, Broadstreet and Huddersfield, so confidence within the camp remains high.

The Bees are on the road this Saturday at Preston Grasshoppers and player-coach Stuart Dixon has been encouraged by squad morale.

“For the last few years we’ve had a problem at the back end of the season with training but this time we’re still getting good numbers,” he said.

“There are a lot of young lads who just enjoy playing rugby and we’ve been performing quite well lately.”

Dixon believes another 20 points, taking their tally to 50, will see them home and the visit to 11th-placed Preston is an opportunity to gain some ground.

“I know looking at results is a dangerous thing to do but Preston haven’t played that well lately,” he said.

“This league throws up curious results week in, week out but everyone down the bottom seems to win a game and then lose the next few. From 11th place down, it’s still very open.

“We’re not going to target a certain number of wins but we’re looking at 50 points as being enough.”

Bradford & Bingley (at Preston Grasshoppers): B Greaves; R Almond, T Davidson, J McBirnie, T Gough; T Jericevich, M Gemmell; R Raper, B Graham, R Wederall, R Hughes, B Mitchell, G Ford, T Cokell, T Ball. Replacements: J Whitfield, J McArthur, S Hobbs, A Walker, S Dixon.

CLEACKHEATON’S hopes of staying up in League Three North are surely over after they were pipped 22-19 by a late drop goal from Rochdale’s Steve Collins.

Having slipped 11 points adrift of safety, Cleck must pull off an upset win at Birkenhead Park.

There are no such worries for BRADFORD SALEM in Yorkshire One. A narrow win over leaders Wheatley Hills snapped a seven-game losing run and they hope to back that up against Malton & Norton.

In National League One, OTLEY are licking their wounds from the 92-0 pounding at leaders Esher.

Having been hammered for 14 tries, the Cross Greeners will look to bounce back against Stourbridge – the first of four at home in their remaining five matches.

Meanwhile, WHARFEDALE are hoping for a bumper Good Friday crowd this afternoon as they host Cambridge in a battle for fifth spot.
