Bradford & Bingley coach Stuart Dixon couldn’t hide his feelings after last Saturday’s 23-14 home defeat by Kendal in National League Two North.

He confessed: “Kendal didn’t play particularly well but we didn’t execute again.

“We were probably guilty of trying to play too much rugby in the wrong areas, and their fly half showed us how it should be done.”

On Saturday, the Bees head east along the M62 to face Hull Ionians, with Dixon saying: “We lost 28-13 at home to them in October, and, along with the Kendal defeat last weekend, they are our two most disappointing performances of the season.”

He added: “Saturday is not the be all and the end all of our season but it is very important that we win to keep Ionians in touch with us instead of letting them having another four or five-point breather on us.”

Richard Hughes is set to return in the second row in place of Brett Mitchell, who has returned to South Africa after a family bereavement.

The backs line-up will depend on late fitness checks.
