Bradford & Bingley flanker Neil Spence has been called up by Yorkshire for their Bill Beaumont Cup match against Lancashire tomorrow at Fylde.

Their only other change is also in the back row, Rob Devonshire (Hull) replacing Rob Baldwin (Wharfedale), who drops to the bench.

Spence is an England Counties stalwart, and another - Wharfedale's Mark Bedworth - makes his debut for Durham in Pool One of the County Championship Plate against the East Midlands at Darlington.

Bedworth's previous England Counties caps have been earned as a Yorkshire centre, but tomorrow the Durham School teacher will be directing operations from fly half for his new county in a game where the winner will go through to the semi-finals.

The winner will secure a home tie in the last four. If it is Durham they return to Blackwell Meadows in a week, while a draw would mean Durham could be in contention as a best runner-up once the mathematicians had done their calculations.

Injuries, Sevens and examinations impact on selection, with the Evans brothers from Billingham on the wings and the exam unavailability of Matthew Gupta creating the opening for Bedworth, with Iain Dixon returning at centre.
