BRADFORD & Bingley Rugby Union Club and Bradford & Bingley Cricket Club are to hold extraordinary general meetings next month in a bid to separate themselves from Bradford & Bingley Sports Club.
The rugby club members will meet on Tuesday, January 6 (7pm) in the clubhouse at Wagon Lane, with the cricket club members following on there two days later (7.30pm).
The sports club are believed to be struggling financially, and egms are the means by which the rugby and cricket club members can divorce themselves from any financial liability.
Cricket club secretary Colin Chapman said: "The cricket club will become a separate entity (if the vote goes in favour) and will become a company limited by guarantee."
A statement on the rugby club's website states: "We are obliged under our Articles of Association to the Sports Club to call an egm if we wish to amend the constitution of the Bradford and Bingley Sports Club or Bradford and Bingley RFC's relationship with the Sports Club."
Rugby club secretary Nick Patterson said: "We could make £50,000, for example, but if the Sports Club makes a £51,000 loss, then we could all go down."
