Old Crossleyans 20
BRADFORD & Bingley’s awful away record in North One East continued as Stuart Dixon’s men were second best in all aspects s to an Old Crossleyans side that thoroughly deserved their victory.
However, had the Bees managed to capitalise on their long periods camped near the home line, they could have won despite never really getting out of second gear.
Crocs took the lead with two early penalties from Chris Vine, with Richard Scull replying for the Bees as the first quarter ended.
The Bees had twice managed to knock the ball on within inches of the line but soon found themselves further in arrears as the home side put together a flowing move from left to right, allowing former Bees player Adam Sutcliffe to dive over in the corner.
It was 13-3 as the sides turned round, and Scull brought the Bees within seven after 48 minutes with a second penalty.
Having seen their side up their game in the final third last week at West Hartlepool, many Bradford & Bingley supporters thought that the Wagon Lane men would snap out of their slumbering performance as the clock ticked on, but that lift never came and Crossleyans had the final say when they scored a converted try.
