Every game is important for Bradford & Bingley – but some games are more important than others, such as Saturday's SSE National League Three North trip to Firwood Waterloo.
The Bees are second from bottom on 28 points, while the Merseysiders are a place above them on 32 points, with both currently in relegation berths.
Bradford & Bingley need to overhaul not only Waterloo but also Percy Park, who have 33 points but have played two matches less.
“This is a crucial game,” said Bees forwards coach Ronnie Kelly ahead of the west-coast visit.
“We know we are capable of winning but we must cut out the silly mistakes, such as dropping the ball inside the opposition 22 or forcing a pass.”
With Rikki Sheriffe unavailable due to Halifax RL commitments, the Bees switch Richard Scull to full back, with Phil Greaves coming in at No 10.
SSE North One East leaders Cleckheaton have conceded the double to second-placed Huddersfield YMCA but there is no panic at Moorend.
“It would be easy to over-react,” said Cleckheaton’s fixture secretary Alan Bentley, “but our chairman of selectors, Tudor Evans, is a level-headed man.”
What they have done for their match at Pocklington is move James Wilson from centre to wing for Martin Woodhead, and give Ollie Depledge a run-out.
Prop Paul Turner has a ‘dead leg’, so Chris Piper comes into the front row, with second rows Grant Turton and Alex Dawson both available as prop cover in case of injury.
Bradford Salem know they cannot afford any slip ups if they are to gain promotion from SSE Yorkshire Division Two.
They include have veteran scrum half Terry Franklin at home to leaders Sheffield Medicals.
