Wibsey 40 Rochdale Hornets 17
Wibsey continued their pursuit of a top-eight finish with this bonus-point victory over the bottom club.
They had secured the extra point for four tries by half-time, leading 26-0 having played down the slope at Beldon Lane.
However, the Hornets hit back with two tries in the second half and it needed the inspiration of skipper James Birkbeck off the bench to make sure Wibsey got the points that lifted them to ninth.
Winger Dale Green scored a trademark 50-metre try uphill to add to two from man of the match Simon Knowles.
“It was a good effort to score 40 points in those conditions because of the strong wind, and we also had some really heavy showers to contend with,” said a contented Wibsey coach Dave Grayson.
