Leeds Carnegie 25, Rotherham 19
A club record three drop goals by Joe Ford helped Leeds Carnegie defeat Rotherham Titans in a Championship thriller at Headingley Carnegie tonight.
Three penalties by Garry Law to two by Tommy Bell had given the Titans a 9-6 interval advantage but Ford's first drop goal soon after the break levelled matters up.
A Robin Copeland try, converted by Law, pushed Rotherham into a 16-9 lead but Ford's second drop goal helped Leeds to keep in touch in the 48th minute.
And they took the lead with a try by Michael Stephenson which Bell improved 14 minutes later.
Ford's record-breaking drop goal in the 65th minute made it 22-16 but, despite frantic Titans pressure, the only further scores were a penalty each for Law and Bell.
The match was watched by 3,167 and former Cleckheaton and Rotherham flanker Ryan Burrows was Leeds' man of the match.
This was Leeds' seventh successive victory - a sequence stretching back to the 24-22 British Cup defeat at Doncaster - and their seventh in the Championship.
