Otley 20, Luctonians 36 The scoreline was given a lop-sided look as Otley conceded a last-minute try while attempting to grab a second bonus point.
They had already bagged one with four tries and tried to run from their own 22 in search of another, only for Luctonians to punish them.
It was harsh on Otley but they had wasted many opportunities and were also guilty of unforgivable errors.
The first was at the kick-off when they allowed the visitors to gather and drive forward for centre Will Richards to go over.
Otley struck back when prop Jonathan McMillan was driven over from a five-metre line-out but unsteadiness was their undoing and chances went begging.
Inevitably, they paid the price as a break through the middle ended with hooker Dale Garner scoring on 25 minutes.
Full back Charles Meredith then came up to make the overlap and score, winger John Morris converting both tries and adding a penalty just before half-time.
Having been denied a try just before the break, Luctonians fly half Will Burton was given a yellow card.
Otley got back in the game when winger James Twomey took a pass on the blindside of a maul five metres out and crashed over.
Then on 68 minutes full back Ben Collins broke away and fly-half Nick Coupland, in support, touched down.
However, ten minutes later No 8 Paul Hulland broke from a close-in maul to dive over, Morris converting, to extend the visitors’ lead.
Another short-distance try from Twomey put Otley back in the picture but over-optimistic passing in their 22 allowed the visitors to gain possession. Burton went in at the posts to give Morris a simple conversion.
