Pontefract 19, Keighley 24 Keighley ended their away-day blues with victory inspired by an energetic performance from their forwards.
Against the run of play, Pontefract were first on the scoreboard with a well-taken try for outside half Chris Sant, who also added the conversion.
Keighley hammered away at the Pontefract line and their efforts were rewarded when outside half Danny McGee arced through a stretched defence to cross between the posts, Rob Wilkinson converting.
Influential Keighley centre Danny Price then crossed in the corner but just before the half-time whistle, Pontefract winger Simon Spears scored a well-worked try to level the scores.
Early Keighley pressure in the second half was wasted when a miss-pass fell into the hands of experienced No 8 Derek Eves, who quickly moved the ball wide for centre Mathew Bacon to score, converted by Simon Fletcher.
Chasing the lead, Keighley played some sensible rugby through their forwards. It paid off when the ball was moved wide to Wilkinson, who rounded the full back to score in the corner.
The visitors kept up the pressure as Lucas Uren evaded the back row from a scrum to score, McGee adding the extras.
Pontefract almost snatched victory away when winger Spears passed inside but the ball was knocked on with the line begging.
