Northern 24, Cleckheaton 12 Cleckheaton are still without a win on the road this season, and this latest defeat at McCracken Park provided little encouragement the sequence is likely to come to an end soon.
The early signs were good but it was Northern who took the lead in the eighth minute with a penalty from centre Alex Clark.
A further Clark penalty and a try from Paul Brady gave the home side a handy lead at the break but they had now to face the strong wind in the second half.
Clark extended the lead to 16 points but, in the 50th minute, Cleckheaton mounted a positive response with tries in quick succession from Olly Depledge and Ross Hayden, one of which was converted by Iain Gordon.
The visitors continued to incur the wrath of the referee and a further try and penalty for Northern made the game safe.
