Baildon are back on the Twickenham trail.
Beaten Junior Vase semi-finalists in 2007, when they lost 19-14 at Billericay, the Jenny Laners have been invited back into what is now a much truncated competition – but still with the carrot of a final at HQ.
Baildon qualify as the highest placed Level Nine club in Yorkshire last season, and they have been grouped in a mini-league qualifier with Newton Aycliffe (Durham) and Seghill (Northumberland).
The Jenny Laners travel to Newton Aycliffe on January 21 and host Seghill on February 11.
Having done the double over Halifax Vandals last season in SSE Yorkshire Division Three, Baildon face them at Jenny Lane on Saturday in the league.
The hosts have a newcomer on the bench in prop Chris Guest, from the splendidly-named Corumbin Palm Beach Alleygators Club on the Australian Gold Coast.
Baildon will meet either Halifax or Old Otliensians at home in the second round of the Centurion Yorkshire Silver Trophy on November 26.
Baildon (home to Halifax Vandals): JJ O’Connell; R Kingham, A Patchett, M Dracup, H Lister; N Lister, J Dawson; A Hewitt, D Tabiner, P Lowth, A Pollard, M Atkinson, T Craven, C Woodhall, J Picken. Replacements: C Guest, D Pollard, P Wilson.
