Macclesfield 22 Cleckheaton 18
After running Morley so close, Cleckhea-ton were hoping to get back to winning ways in National League Three North, and at half time it looked like they would - but nobody told Macclesfield.
Following a nervous start, Macclesfield scored first with a penalty from skipper Ross Winney ten metres inside the Cleckheaton half. A quick tap by Ryan Duckett put the visitors on the attack and a catch and drive by the forwards on halfway led to Tom Lauriston putting John Bentley over.
Macclesfield pulled three points back with another Winney penalty in the 12th minute and he added another on the half-hour.
However, after 33 minutes, Cleckheaton were awarded a penalty in front of the posts after a Macclesfield player stopped a try-scoring chance, and Chris Quinn converted.
Winney was sent off for foul play off the pitch in the 35th minute and, after much pressure, Duckett went over in the corner to put Cleckheaton 13-9 ahead.
Nevertheless, Macclesfield started the second half the more fired up. Paul Bartle and Peter Allen scored tries and Paul Macey dropped a goal. Despite Macclesfield having a man in the bin, Cleckheaton could only add a Quinn try for a point.
