Ilkley 26, York 10
Ilkley have won the Yorkshire Shield for the second time in their history.
They defeated York 26-10 in the final tonight at Pontefract.
Never behind, Ilkley scored four tries, and the fact that three of their forwards went over, including both props, was an indication of their dominance in the pack.
John Hutchinson and John Oakes bagged tries for the front-row union, while player-coach Hamish Pratt also crossed, the only back to score being centre Andy Matthews.
Yorkshire Division One Ilkley’s other Shield triumph came in 1994.
