Nestle Rowntree 100, Wibsey 17
On the back of putting 63 points past depleted Rossington Hornets the previous week in Yorkshire Division Five, Wibsey found the tables were turned yesterday at York when they only travelled with 14 players.
The main focus of Wibsey’s attention at Rowntree was to get the bonus point for four tries, and they managed one touchdown in the first half and two in the second but couldn’t get the crucial fourth against opponents who had players back from injury and student leave.
No 8 Alex Cerson bagged a hat-trick against the Hornets and James Birkbeck got a brace but Wibsey never played with the same freedom against Nestle Rowntree.
Second-from-bottom Wibsey trail Hornets by seven points with a game in hand.
