Wharfedale 24, London Scottish 31 Wharfedale matched the league leaders almost throughout and, for the second time in a week, conjured a return for their efforts in a dramatic finale.
But unlike against Sedgley Park, the vital bonus point – sealed with a magnificent conversion of a last-action try – was fully merited.
In the first half, Tom Davidson landed three penalties for Dale, including one from well inside the home half and one while skipper Rob Baldwin was serving a yellow card.
Baldwin returned to touch down following a penalty scrum to give his side a 14-12 lead at half-time.
Davidson added another penalty five minutes into the second period but the Scots hit back with three tries to lead 31-17.
Dale flanker Dan Solomi was agonisingly close to a try, just failing to catch his hack ahead.
But in the last play of the game, flanker David Hughes notched a try in the right corner and Davidson’s conversion from the touch-line sailed between the posts.
