Old Modernians 17, Baildon 9

Having notched a comprehensive 40-0 victory at home to Old Otliensians eight days ago, Baildon were deservedly beaten at Old Modernians in another Yorkshire Division Three derby yesterday.

Baildon had first use of the slope but could only manage three penalties by returning winger Nicky Lister as Modernians adapted better to the conditions.

Put simply, Mods were the better team and wanted the victory more against below-par visitors, for whom Nicky Lister and full back JJ O’Connell were the best.

Baildon have dropped to third, having the same number of points as second-placed Goole but having played a game more.
