Keighley head coach Graeme Sheffield is hoping to catch Heath cold in his side’s crunch clash at Rose Cottage on Saturday.

Victory could see the Utley outfit leapfrog their Halifax visitors to go third in Yorkshire Division One.

And Sheffield is hoping last Sunday’s friendly against Bradford & Bingley can give them an edge against a side who have not played since November 20.

He said: “We hope to have stolen a march on them and be more match ready. Our guys said they were very stiff after Sunday, having not played for almost a month and it will be even longer for them.”

Keighley will be looking to make amends for the 27-23 defeat at Heath earlier in the season when Sheffield admits his troops had an off-day.

He said: “We didn’t perform to our potential. We had a good enough side out and have made positional changes since then.”

Sheffield has targeted two Heath dangermen in fly half Giles Hetherington and former Halifax rugby league centre Martin Moana.

He said: “Hetherington has a good turn of pace and Moana is a big unit but we have recruited since we played them with the addition of Marco Ferrazano.”

The Keighley centre tweaked his quad muscle against his old club Bees but is expected to be fit.

Sheffield will pick from strength, with only Nathan Thornton missing. He drops to the seconds, having recently had flu.
