The prospect of a Roses finale to the National Under-20 Championship is still very much alive as Yorkshire and Lancashire look ahead to Sunday’s quarter-final ties, with the draw for the semi-finals on April 18 having kept them apart.

Both teams will be on the road, however, if they can negotiate Sunday’s last-eight challenges.

Yorkshire, captained by Bradford & Bingley’s Tom Davidson and who have already used 36 players so far this season because of injuries and unavailabilities, entertain East Midlands at Pontefract.

But White Rose manager Keith Dyas believes that, barring any late cry-offs this weekend, he has the best 24 players, selected from 17 clubs, in his squad for Pontefract.

“There will be no question of complacency,” he said.

“We’ve done well in the Northern group games, but we’ve been victims of form upsets in the past – notably at Twickenham – so we’ll be properly focused and paying East Midlands full respect.”

Also picked are Otley’s Joel Gill at full back and Wharfedale’s Jack Mackie (centre) and Richard Rhodes (second row).

Two Bees players are on the bench - Mark Gemmell and Rob Almond.
