Wharfedale and Otley are both aiming to put on their Sunday best this weekend in National League One.

England Counties meet France Amateurs tonight in Lille and, with Wharfedale, their opponents Blaydon and Otley’s foes Tynedale each having at least two players in the repre-sentative squad, their respective league matches have been put back 24 hours.

Apart from a minor adjustment to the front row, the Greens field the side which demoralised Blackheath last Saturday, scoring eight tries in the process.

Gavin Hindle returns at hooker, and Chris Steel, having shown last week that he has recovered from injury, starts at prop.

Mark Bedworth and Rob Baldwin are Wharfedale’s duo on French leave tonight.

Otley had a superb 35-34 victory at home to second-placed London Scottish last weekend.

Home skipper Howard Parr said: “We kicked off 30 minutes late because some of their team arrived late, and then we conceded two tries in the first ten minutes.

“We thought it was going to be a cricket score but everyone in our team was fantastic and we pulled it around.

“The young lads will remember that day for the rest of their lives but now we have a tough match again on Sunday at fourth-placed Tynedale.

"We just hope that we can carry things forward from last weekend.”
