Baildon were left wondering how they can win a game after losing their Yorkshire Division Three derby 25-8 at home to Aireborough.

For once this season, Baildon started brightly and were rewarded with an Ali Beaumont penalty after five minutes.

The opening 20 minutes were dominated by the hosts but they were penalised time and again through poor kicking and decision-making.

A James Druce penalty brought Aireborough level but Baildon went in front when lively scrum half Jack Aaron picked up at the back of a ruck, dummied and then darted in from 20 yards.

With Baildon down to 14 men, a well-worked try, converted by Druce, gave Aireborough a 10-8 interval lead.

On 60 minutes, Baildon lost second-rower Richard Kendall, closely followed by winger Nick Oddy and prop Adam Hewitt.

This unsettled the forwards and, with Carlos Hassan struggling with injury, the home side were starting to show their frailties.

Druce increased Aireborough’s lead with a penalty on 65 minutes and they confirmed victory with two late well-worked tries.
