Yorkshire need a sharp improvement on Sunday against Cumbria at Wharfedale (2.15) if they are to stay on course for the knockout stages of the National Under-20 Championships - a tournament they have virtually monopolised in the last decade.
Despite their win over Northumberland at Driffield in the previous round, team manager Keith Dyas (Wibsey) was unable to conceal his disappointment.
"We have made four changes because of injuries and unavailability, but we definitely need to find a big improvement this week," he said.
"We had domination up front, but Northumberland stuck to the task and, going into the last few minutes, the game was in the balance when they snatched a late try. We should have won the game comfortably and we’re looking for a massive improvement."
Yorkshire include Bradford & Bingley duo Rob Almond and skipper Tom Davidson and two from the host club - Jack Mackie and Richard Rhodes - plus Otley’s Joe Quinn. Yarnbury’s Adam Malthouse is on the bench.
