Wharfedale 10, London Scottish 18
Wharfedale seemed in control against a side struggling to cope with the loss of flanker Oliver Brown to a red card earned in a fracas just before the break.
But in the 67th minute, the teams were brought back to parity when Greens flanker Latu Maka’afi was sin-binned.
His departure signalled a spirited fightback by the visitors, winger David Howells claiming a brace of fine tries to overturn a 10-6 deficit.
Earlier, Adam Mason added a try to the Greens’ opener, which Chris Malherbe had scored after a crashing break by fellow centre James Tincknell. Mason’s touchdown was created by a finely judged cross-kick by stand-off Mark Bedworth that split open a hesitant defence.
The Dalesmen will feel they should have had the game won well before the visitors’ late surge.
