Joe Ford, son of England defensive coach Mike, helped the North become the only unbeaten team today after two matches of the England Under-18 trials.

His second penalty in the last minute helped them defeat the South West 13-12 at Broadstreet RFC, near Coventry.

Ford, a pupil at Rishworth School, near Halifax, also added the conversion of right winger Jordan Davies' try as the North recovered from a 12-3 deficit.

London and the South East defeated the Midlands 5-3 in today's other match.

The North will next face the Midlands at Broadstreet next Sunday (2pm) after which a provisional England squad will be named for training at Bromsgrove on January 4-6.
