Greene King IPA Championship semi-final, first leg: Yorkshire Carnegie 17 Doncaster Knights 30
NORTH Ribblesdale product Chris Walker says that Yorkshire Carnegie are still in with a chance of making the final, despite them losing the semi-final first leg at home to Doncaster by 13 points last weekend.
Ahead of this Sunday's second leg at Castle Park, Walker said: "It was important to finish the way we did to give us a chance next week.
"The first 60 minutes was disappointing but when we played the type of rugby we wanted to play, we had a chance, and that's what we need to do next week.
"It felt as though when we got into the game we loosened up and started to play a bit more rugby.
"We will prepare this week and come back next week at Doncaster and give ourselves the best chance. If we play how we finished, we will give ourselves the best opportunity."
Carnegie head coach Bryan Redpath said: "We didn't perform well in our set-piece and Doncaster capitalised on that, whether in the scrum or the line-out, and we didn't keep the ball in the right areas.
"We looked nervy and there was some loose passes, which can happen when you get a bit of pressure on you.
"Credit to Doncaster, they played well and took their opportunities when they arose. We've got lots to work on.
"We have got to be much better as a team, so there is no place to hide, but it's not lost."
Carnegie's tries came from Oli Goss, after a great break by skipper Ryan Burrows and replacement Walker, Kevin Sinfield adding a penalty and Joel Hodgson two conversions.
