Greene King IPA Championship: Jersey 0 Yorkshire Carnegie 34
YORKSHIRE Carnegie will go into Sunday's play-off semi-final first leg at home to Doncaster Knights with a spring in their step after running in six unanswered tries as they finished their regular season in style.
"It was a great effort to nil the opposition," said visiting skipper Jack Walker, "and we learnt a lot in attack and defence going into the play-offs."
Head coach Bryan Redpath made a raft of changes for the final game but those who came in made sure that the team's recent momentum was maintained.
The visitors lost prop Ben Hooper to a nasty off-the-ball challenge early on but No 8 Jarad Williams and Joel Hodgson put them in command, with Harry Leonard converting the initial try for 12-0.
Leonard and Williams were involved in Oli Goss' try on the half-hour, and Andy Saull's catch-and-drive try in the second half secured their 22nd four-try bonus point of the season.
Determined Carnegie defence kept out Jersey before the visitors added late tries by former Wharfedale player Taylor Prell and Pete Lucock after good work by Jack Barnard, Williams and Christian Georgiou.
