YORKSHIRE Carnegie captain Chris Jones has thanked the home fans after they watched their side lose the British & Irish Cup final 33-10 to London Welsh at Headingley.
Chris Walker got Carnegie's only try in front of a crowd of 3,107, Kevin Sinfield adding a penalty and a conversion against opponents who they had beaten away just a week earlier in the league, and Jones confessed: "We are massively disappointed.
"We thought on our home patch we would be able to assert some dominance, which in the first half we did.
"The problem was we didn't capitalise, and they seemed to score every time they got in our 22.
"We are in the play-offs and got to the final. Unfortunately, it's not the fairy-tale ending that we wanted but we have to be proud of everything we have achieved, using 41 players, including some from the university and that's a real positive."
