THE Rugby World Cup is coming to West Yorkshire as part of the 100-Day Trophy Tour.
The Webb Ellis Cup, famously won by England in 2003, will be on show at Halifax Rugby Union Football Club on Wednesday, August 5 (11am-4pm).
It will coincide with a festival of fun at the club's Ovenden Park ground.
There will also be a demonstration tournament that will hopefully involve all of the mixed ability rugby teams within Yorkshire, including the Bumbles from Bradford & Bingley.
In addition there will be entertainment for the family, including fun stalls. The police, fire brigade and Royal Navy reserves will also be in attendance, along with an as yet unnamed special guest.
The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour got underway on Wednesday and will take in selected clubs across Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England before concluding on September 18 – the day that the Rugby World Cup kicks off at Twickenham with England facing Fiji (8pm).
Halifax RUFC have previously hosted the Women’s Rugby World Cup and the club's director of rugby Sarah Clough said: “This is an amazing honour, not only for Halifax RUFC but for the entire region."
