Old Grovians 58 Bramley Phoenix 17
OLD Grovians made it 13 home wins out of 13, and passed 1,000 points for the season in an emphatic victory over opponents who seemed intent on niggling the SSE Yorkshire Three champions.
The home side were ahead within five minutes when Joe Harrison forced Bramley to concede a line-out near their line and skipper Christian Baines was driven over.
Harry Garforth went over next, taking two opponents over the line with him, Adam Weaving converting, and it was 17-0 when Harrison crossed again, after they had been denied three times by a 'foot in touch'.
Phoenix benefited from some fine play to score a converted try but home centre Anthony Griffin then ran most of the length of the field to put winger James Yates over, and there was still time before the interval for Baines to score a carbon copy of his first try and Bramley to get a second try to leave Grove 27-12 in front.
Baines completed his hat-trick in the second half as Phoenix received a second yellow card but a red card then followed, Griffin scoring for Nathan Barr's conversion to make it 39-12.
Griffin then put Barr over, and other tries came for Griffin and full back Ben Brown, with Barr converting two.
