YORKSHIRE Division Two champions Bradford Salem have plans to match their on-field success with developments off it.
Club chairman John Dobson revealed at the recent players' dinner: "We want to put a second storey on our clubhouse, using the ground floor for changing rooms etc and have the bar and catering facilities upstairs overlooking the first-team pitch.
"This has superceded plans to have a joint clubhouse with Cross Roads & Daisy Hill Cricket Club at the top end of the car park, this idea being stopped primarily because of escalating costs."
Salem, who added a main stand in 2011, have upgraded their bar area this season, including new concertina doors, sound and video equipment and Wi-fi, and put down badly-needed new paving outside the clubhouse.
Other things which are in the pipeline at initial stages are to replace the current first-team pitch with a 4G surface, which could mean extended usage by women's teams, Bradford Grammar School and the University of Bradford, while, having lost a pitch to Cross Roads & Daisy Hill Cricket Club, Salem also have first refusal on developing the old Cambridge Place Cricket Club ground, which is owned by Bradford Council.
On the pitch, Salem, who are unbeaten this season in Yorkshire Two under director of rugby Sam Gardner and coach Phil Nilsen, are also chasing glory in the Yorkshire Shield and Aire-Wharfe Cup.
Meanwhile, their second team are poised for promotion from the Aire Wharfe West District League, while the junior section are expanding under the stewardship of Simon Markey and Craig Bartlett, with players hopefully feeding into the first team by 2019.
