SSE National League Three North: Rossendale 20, Cleckheaton 22
CLECKHEATON were good value for this bonus-point victory at windswept Rossendale, which took the Moorenders' record to nine wins in their last ten league matches.
Despite the conditions, both teams strove manfully to gain the upper hand but in the end it was Cleckheaton's domination of territory and obvious team spirit which won the day.
Tries from Martin Woodhead and Lee Queeley in the first half and Josh Plunkett and Ross Hayden in the second put the visitors in the driving seat.
Hayden managed to land one conversion in the howling gale, and this was to prove vital as the hosts countered with three tries, including a penalty try, one conversion and a penalty from full back Steve Nutt.
Overall this was a highly entertaining contest for which both teams should be congratulated.
