Wharfedale 34
Tynedale 14
WHARFEDALE have made it four wins in succession in SSE National League One.
They weathered a sustained period of Tynedale pressure and, having kept their discipline, waited for the visitors to make a mistake.
After eight minutes, Dale scored on their first possession with a flowing move which ended with a Dan Solomi dart from five metres, Jamie Guy just missing the conversion.
Josh Burridge added a second for Dale after 25 minutes, Guy again being off target with the conversion but he added a penalty to give the home side a justified 13-0 lead at half-time.
Tynedale started the second half strongly and pushed Dale into their own 22.
A successful catch and drive led to the referee going under the posts for a penalty try, Matthew Outson tagging on the extras to put the north easterners back in the game.
However, Dale responded with great character and a superb inside pass from James Doherty sent right winger Lloyd Davies through.
He still had work to do and finished off a fine move with a try under the posts which Guy converted, and the Greens stretched the lead to 27-7 with a converted try from centre Cameron Hudson.
A solo effort from Jack Harrison, converted by Outson, gave Tynedale some hope of getting a bonus point.
But Dale finished the stronger with a fifth try when centre Tom Davidson refused to pass and bludgeoned his way to score wide out on the left.
Guy delighted the home crowd by rounding off the scoring with an excellent kick from near the touchline.
Some tough tests lie ahead but this result will put Greens in good heart.
