SSE National League One: Darlington Mowden Park 26, Wharfedale 27
WHARFEDALE'S spirit that has seen them win some amazing games was evident again.
Dale outplayed Park for the first 45 minutes but when the home side fought back, it looked like the visitors had blown it.
A 24-7 lead had turned into a 26-24 deficit but the last few minutes were all about the Greens wanting to win, Jamie Guy giving the visitors that slender victory with a well-taken penalty in the 79th minute.
Three tries from Dan Solomi and one from Chris Steel, with two Guy conversions, gave Dale the bonus point and a substantial lead, Darlington’s only try in the first half coming from Grant Connon, who also added the extras.
The home side closed the gap after 48 minutes with an unconverted try from George Hedgley before more pressure came from Park.
When Ian Larkin was yellow carded, Park made excellent use of their superior numbers with two tries, one from Jack Allcock and a deserved penalty try awarded for the second.
Connon converted both to give Darlington the lead for the first time in the match but, with a full side, Dale steadied the ship and Guy slotted the second of two penalties for a great five-pointer away from home.
