Scotland under-20 replacement Ben Cooper may only have been on the field for a maximum of 26 minutes against his former Otley team-mates Paul Hill and Jack Walker last Friday at Galashiels but it didn’t stop him getting an ‘earful’.
Never mind that former Prince Henry’s Grammar School pupil Hill was propping and current PHGS attendee Walker hooking for England under-20s at Netherdale while Cooper was in the backs, it failed to spare him from getting some stick!
England soon took control and led 29-8 after 43 minutes, Cooper coming on a minute later and, although the hosts scored a converted try, England again pulled away to win 48-15.
Walker played for 63 minutes before giving way to Tom Woolstoncroft (Bath), while Hill was on the pitch seven minutes longer before he was replaced by Harry Rudkin (Leicester Tigers).
Cooper came on for fly half Ben Chalmers in the 44th minute, converted the try by replacement Chris Dean three minutes later and stayed on for the remainder of the match.
