Ripon 13 Baildon 5
Any flickering hopes Baildon had of survival were all but extinguished on Ripon’s gluepot pitch.
The contest between the division’s bottom two clubs in heavy conditions wasn’t the prettiest of spectacles but the Jenny Laners came away feeling disappointed.
They dominated territory and possession for long periods and played more open and expansive rugby than their opponents.
However, lack of execution at crucial times once again cost Baildon dearly and, despite a late try from hooker Dale Tabiner, who crashed over from close range in second-half injury-time, the North Yorkshire hosts came out on top.
The 13 points that Ripon had scored through two first-half tries and a penalty were enough to clinch the game and leave Baildon contemplating life back in Yorkshire Three, with their opponents still the most likely club to join them.
