Thirsk 0 Wibsey 7
Second-from-bottom Wibsey are looking upwards after this victory at basement club Thirsk.
The Bradford club’s second victory of the season has put them five points ahead of their North Yorkshire rivals but only two points behind third-from- bottom Rossington Hornets, who have two games in hand.
“This gives us something to aim for for the rest of the season,” said Wibsey’s manager Steve Brooke.
“The afternoon started badly as we only travelled with 13 men but club captain James Birkbeck arrived late and coach Paul Hibbert played at full back to get us up to 15 men.
“However, we all played as one and Bruce Mpofu got the try which James Sawyer (pictured), who ‘kicked them to death’, converted.
“Mind you, Bruce also thought he had scored earlier but put the ball down on the five-metre line, which won him an award!”
Wibsey’s man of the match, however, was flanker Scott Taylor.
