Fly half Glyn Hughes kicked five penalties from as many attempts in a 15-14 victory at Plymouth Albion that lifted Leeds Carnegie to third in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Hughes said: “It was a bit ugly but it’s still worth four points. We went in at half-time 9-3 down but it showed a lot of character from the boys to pull through, despite not having the performance we wanted."

Hghes added: "It is always nice for a goal-kicker when the kicks work out. I charged down that drop goal at the end and I thought it had gone over, so I was emotionally all over the place.”
