Despite being almost at full strength for the first time this season, an 80th-minute Nick Lister try was all Baildon had to show after a tough physical outing at Moss Valley in SSE Yorkshire Division Two.

Bouyed by their first win of the season against Leodiensian just before Christmas and boosted by the return of prop Pete Lowth, No 8 Craig Woodhall and the debut of former Morley hooker Tom Gray, the Jenny Laners began the game in confident mood and with real hope of avenging the 37-6 defeat their hosts had inflicted on them back in September.

However, their new-found confidence suffered a blow just five minutes into the game when Moortown's powerful pack scored the first of three pushover tries from a five-metre scrum.

A further setback came when the hosts' No 10 ran virtually unopposed from halfway to score under the posts seven minutes later.

Moortown scored their second pushover try on the stroke of half-time, and put the game beyond doubt with the bonus-point try just five minutes into the second half.

Despite some manful defence, Baildon's failure to retain possession in their opponents' half and lack of execution at critical times led to another afternoon of damage limitiation rather than an opportunity to build on recent improvements.

Baildon will be looking to improve in all areas ahead of the visit of fellow strugglers Old Rishworthians next week as a defeat would virtually end any prospect of competing in Division Two next season.
