Not wanting to go three weeks without a run-out, SSE North One East leaders Cleckheaton will be fielding as strong a team as possible for their traditional Boxing Day match at home to Old Brodleians (11am).
“We haven’t played since December 14,” said Cleck-heaton’s fixture secretary Alan Bentley, “and the players need a run-out. Also we don’t want to lose momentum.”
Cleckheaton have won 13 of their 14 league matches and head the table by 14 points, despite them having the expected five points deducted for the incident against Malton & Norton to seasons ago.
Bentley added: “I am not saying that Rob Afoa-Peterson will be playing tomorrow or that Ollie Akroyd will be playing against his old club, but we will have as strong a team as possible out, including some youngsters on the bench.
“As for Old Brodleians, I understand they have one or two injuries.”
At stake is the Fred Scott Memorial Trophy, named after the Cleckheaton life member who used to be secretary of the club.
