Leeds Carnegie notched an excellent 28-22 victory at Bristol today in the Greene King IPA Championship.
Jonah Holmes, released back from Wasps, scored two first-half tries in front of the Sky TV cameras, Fred Burdon added another and Ben Harris got their only five-pointer of the second half.
Holmes’ first try was a beauty as a crunching tackle by David Doherty freed the ball in midfield and Leeds counter-attacked.
Stevie McColl and Richard Beck exchanged passes down the touchline before Josh Griffin side-footed a kick into the arms of Holmes, who shrugged off a would-be tackler to score his fifth try of the season.
