There is little doubt as to the most unexpected result last weekend in SSE Yorkshire Division Two.
It was Baildon’s 25-25 draw at promotion-chasing Barnsley.
The hosts had only lost two of their ten games, while Baildon had lost all of their ten.
On Saturday, the Jenny Laners host Bradford Salem, whose fixture secretary Neil Klenk said of Baildon’s scoreline: “That was a major surprise.
“We just expected Barnsley to get five points but it shows that you underestimate Baildon at your peril.
“We had a great result against Yarnbury but Baildon will be fired up and we don’t want to get into an arm wrestle against them.”
Salem will not be at full strength as prop Simon Davies and second row John Morrell have possible hairline fractures of an ankle, hooker Marc Gibbons is also awaiting a scan on a rib injury and prop John Bradbury is unavailable.
Dave Luxton, who played 80 minutes for the first time in five years recently against West Leeds, again steps into the front-row breach alongside the improving Jordan Ashworth, with Mark Smith as cover on the bench.
Keighley have delayed selection for their SSE Yorkshire Division One match at home to leaders Doncaster Phoenix but hope to have prop Craig Spencer and scrum half Ian Woodwiss back.
However, they will probably be without Mark Hagyard (rib) as they strive to climb out of a demotion berth.
Bradford Salem (at Baildon): D Belcher; C Malarkey, S Dunn, S Savage, C Walker; A Robinson, J Mitchell; J Ashworth, A Veitch, D Luxton, J Cunliffe, D Pearson, R Green, J Boooth, J Fawcett. Replacements: O Al-Fawi, S Markey, M Smith.
