Barnsley 25 Baildon 25
A late Jarrod Huss penalty gave Baildon a hard-earned and well-deserved draw against promotion-chasing Barnsley as the Jenny Laners ended their ten-game losing streak since the start of the league campaign.
Trailing 10-0 after just eight minutes, the Jenny Laners opened their account with their first visit to the hosts’ 22 when left wing Oliver Waddington got himself on the end of a fine passing move to touch down in the corner.
Despite conceding a pushover try and penalty, the visitors got themselves back into the game when centre Nick Lister brilliantly intercepted a pass on halfway to race under the posts just before the break.
Brave defence and more adventurous back play from Baildon paid off when scum half Paddy Sowter darted over from five yards on 60 minutes following some excellent controlled approach play by his forwards.
A first win of the season beckoned but poor tackling ten minutes from time allowed Barnsley in for a soft try to leave Baildon contemplating an 11th consecutive defeat.
However, Huss’s superb 40-yard effort from out on the right touchline six minutes into injury time saw Baildon finally end their losing streak.
