Cleckheaton 24 Pocklington 6
Despite the blustery and wet conditions, this top-of-the-table clash provided excellent entertainment as Cleckheaton returned to the North One East summit.
The end result was a fair reflection of the hosts’ overall supremacy.
However, despite the four to nil try count, Pocklington were in the game until the last quarter of the match.
Then three well-made tries from Ross Hayden, Ryan Piercy (pictured) and Andy Piper, two of which were converted by Hayden, took the game away from the visitors.
Both sides put up stubborn defence and the paucity of scoring opportunities was reflected in the first half when an unconverted touchdown from Richard Piper and two penalties from Sam Askem for the visitors were the only scores.
The victory saw Cleckheaton leapfrog Pocklington to lead by a point at the top with a game in hand on their closest rivals.
