Otley will be out to tame the Sheffield Tigers and take their unbeaten home run to four matches on Saturday.

Bromsgrove (29-17), Dudley Kingswinford (36-19) and Caldy (31-27) have all suffered SSE National League Two North defeats at Cross Green, and director of rugby James Tiffany is anxious to continue that run.

He is also looking for his side to bounce back from the disappointment of their 37-22 defeat at Preston Grasshoppers last Saturday.

Tiffany said: “It’s another Yorkshire derby and Sheffield will be up for it after pushing leaders Stourbridge close in their last game.

“It is important that we make sure that we get our approach right. I feel sure that chances to score tries will come our way and we have to make sure we capitalise on them.”

“The players enjoy playing at home,” added Tiffany. “Psychologically playing at Cross Green is a boost for the players.

“All the boys are hugely positive about the club, and its history. Many of them have come through the junior ranks, which is something we are looking to develop further.

“There are some super teams and players in our junior ranks and they are the future of the club.

“While we are aware of the need to develop them as the future players and administrators we mustn’t take our eye off our immediate focus which is beating Sheffield.”

Otley have a few knocks and bruises, with the biggest concern being scrum half Steve Depledge, who has a shoulder problem.

Reflecting on the Preston match, Tiffany said: “We had a disappointing first half at Preston but we came back strongly in the second half.

"We got to within five points and were pushing for a bonus point but they scored a penalty and a try to end our hopes.

“I was pleased with Mark Ireland, not just for his goal-kicking but for his all-round play, while Michael Coady is making an impact after a few games.

“Preston are a good side but we know that we could have done better in the first half.”
