Dan Nulty, who made his first appearance for Old Grovians in their debut season seven years ago, has returned as player-coach.
The 34-year-old winger, who had several successful seasons on the wing for Ilkley, will fill the void left by Matt Gaffney at the end of last season.
Nulty will be in charge of the backs as Grovians prepare for life in SSE Yorkshire Division Three, following their promotion as runners-up last season.
Following the appointment, Grovians’ director of rugby Martin Whitcombe said: “I’m delighted Dan will coach the backs. He’s exactly what we’re looking for right now – he’s young and enthusiastic and I like his attitude!”
Nulty is the second coach to join Whitcombe’s team this summer following the arrival of John Radigan.
Old Grovians play their first pre-season game at home to Ilkley Seconds next Tuesday (6.45).
