Former Wharfedale captain David Rymer has died aged 76 after a long illness.
The prop, who later moved to hooker, packed down in the front row with his brother Peter for many years and captained the Greens for three years in the mid-1960s, culminating in their run to the Yorkshire Cup semi-finals in 1966.
Wharfedale’s chairman of rugby and former team-mate Michael Harrison said: “David was a tremendous Wharfedale clubman. A front-row forward who led from the front and typified the famous Wharfedale spirit.”
David’s funeral will be on Wednesday, June 12 at St Margaret Clitherow Church, Threshfield (noon), followed by a burial at St Michaels and All Angel’s Church, Linton.
There will then be a celebration of David's life at Wharfedale Rugby Union Football Club.
