Bradford Salem 63, Ripon 7
Bradford Salem finished their SSE Yorkshire Division Two campaign on a high with a crushing victory over Ripon at Shay Lane.
Despite turning up with only 15 men due to unavailabilities, Ripon should have got early points on the board but pulled a simple penalty attempt wide of the uprights.
Salem then took a 5-0 lead when prop Simon Davies popped up on the right wing and he showed good skills to evade the cover defence and force his way over in the corner.
Fly half Andy Robinson was unable to land the conversion from the touchline but shortly afterwards was on target with a penalty to extend his side's lead to eight points.
Salem soon added to when outside centre Tony Williams was in support of a Danny Thomas break to score a fine try, improved by Robinson to put the home side ahead 15-0.
Davies scored his second try when he ripped through the Ripon defence from a switch move in midfield, Robinson adding the extras to take the scoreline to 22-0.
Williams got over for his second try after more excellent handling in the backs before flanker Rhys Green got his first try for the first XV to give the home side a 32-0 advantage at the break.
Salem continued to dominate in the second half and it wasn't long before they added to their tally when Thomas finished off another sweeping move in the backs.
At this stage, the Bradford side looked like they could score at every opportunity, and when full back Danny Belcher scored an individual try to put the home side 46-0 ahead, it looked like the flood-gates would open.
However, Salem were guilty of conceding too many penalties in the tackle area and this led to the sin-binnings of replacement winger Carl Walker and replacement prop Jordan Ashworth.
Ripon took advantage of the situation to score a converted try to reduce the deficit to 46-7 but once the home side were back to a full complement of 15, the tide started to turn.
First Sam Savage, who had moved from wing to centre, dummied his way over before scrum half Ian Woodwiss bagged his first try of the season after supporting a break from skipper and No 8 Damien Pearson to take the score to 58-7.
Flanker Dave Hutton completed the rout when he forced his way over in the right corner to seal an emphatic victory.
