Promotion is secured from SSE Yorkshire Four and the title is in the bag but Old Grovians' director of rugby Martin Whitcombe is challenging his team to finish the season in style.

Before the visit of Hornsea, he said: "We want to finish what we started. The most important thing is we've got some of the most loyal supporters any team could have - we've done it for ourselves all season and it's our opportunity to say thank you to them."

After a slow start to the campaign, Hornsea have been impressive down the stretch, climbing up to fifth in the table, and since the turn of the year only Old Grovians have got a better record.

Whitcombe knows Saturday's opponents will come to Elm Tree Farm looking to make a statement.

He added: "If you look at the stats, they are the second most successful team in the second half of the season.

"They are a proud rugby club and they'll be professional about what they are going to do."

With that in mind, there's no thought of Old Grovians taking this game lightly.

Whitcombe wants to preserve a record which has seen them lose just one game all season and are currently enjoying an 11-game winning streak, and said: "We're very proud of our record.

"We've got the best offence, the best defence and obviously we're top of the log - that's something we want to take with us until the end of the year.

"We're going to pick our strongest side and we want to finish and win!"
