Bradford Dudley Hill 10, York Acorn 16
Bradford Dudley Hill slipped to a slender defeat at home to York Acorn but still reached the National Conference League play-offs on points difference and with a game in hand.
Man-of-the-match Lewis Evans grabbed the hosts’ first try early on and hooker Nathan Kitson added the extras.
That 6-0 advantage was soon extended as Neil Wall produced a piece of magic to go over in the corner.
Yet the visitors, relegated from the Premier Division last season alongside Dudley Hill, fashioned a spirited response to turn the game on its head.
They replied on the stroke of half-time through prop Martin McTigue and struck again after the restart as Mike Embleton touched down. McTigue tacked on the extra points before Anthony Chilton added a third try.
York Acorn remain second on points difference to Dudley Hill, who have another game to play before the play-offs get underway in less than a fortnight’s time.
