ALTHOUGH they were pressurising hosts King Cross Park for much of the game, Wyke under-17s still needed a late penalty to secure a 16-16 draw in the Yorkshire Junior League.
After the teams observed a minute's silence in respect of Keighley Cougars' Danny Jones, Wyke went 4-0 behind but levelled on the half-hour via a superb Flynn Woodhead try, and pinched the half-time lead with a Calvin Barker try which Jimmy McKibbon converted.
After sloppy tackling meant they were pulled back to 10-10, Wyke were twice held up over the line before second-rower Alec Williams scored from a barnstorming run.
However, the Halifax hosts took the lead again with a converted try before McKibbon's late goal secured parity.
Alfie Barraclough (2), Finley Abrahams and Connor McGuinness scored for Wyke under-eights in their 14-4 defeat at Emley Moor.
Awards went to: Andrew Parkin (both man of the match awards and top tackler), Alfie Barraclough and Connor McGuinness (coaches' award jointly)
